Reinventing Prevention

They say an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Nothing made that more obvious than COVID-19.  At Safe Steps we have spent the last 2 years preventing falls in care homes, so preventing the spread of COVID-19 in care homes was the next natural step.  

At Safe Steps we believe that our multidisciplinary team of designers, engineers, clinicians, and data scientists are uniquely positioned to disrupt the classic health care system do what we do best: prevent. We have created the Safe Steps COVID-19 app to do just that.

How it works:

We check for symptoms.  The carers go through a set of questions with each of their residents to monitor for any change in their condition.

According to our carers, what makes our COVID-19 Tracker stand out is the direct connection to a General Practitioner.  It saves precious time and accelerates the provision of care to those who need it most.

Professor Martin Vernon, the Clinical Hub Lead Consultant has said:  “The Safe Steps COVID-19 tracker app provides real-time information to clinicians and GPs about the clinical status of their patients, allowing proactive management and care for the most vulnerable in our society. My clinical teams are now using the dashboard daily to optimally support care homes and their residents.”

The COVID-19 tracker also allows the NHS to more closely monitor how care homes are doing during the pandemic thanks to a visual dashboard that displays the COVID-19 tracker information at an aggregate level.

While we wait for the pandemic to subside, we need to strengthen our defenses, and protect the most at risk, our ageing society.  In these dark times of a pandemic, look to prevention for hope.
